Page 2 of 5 - How to debrand / install a custom ROM on the Orange Monte Carlo / ZTE Skate

Introduction » Choose & download ROM » Install ClockworkMod Recovery » Install the ROM » Comments

There are several different types of ROMs to choose from - custom, debranded and stock. On this page, we will explain all the different types of ROMs and recommend the best ROM for your needs. You will then download the ROM to your phone, which you will install later.

Here is a short explanation of all the different types of ROMs you can install on your Orange Monte Carlo / ZTE Skate. If you are unsure which type of ROM you wish to install, we recommend a Custom ROM.

  • Custom ROM - based on an official factory (stock) ROM, with all carrier branding removed, general improvements to speed and battery life, and root access by default.

  • Debranded ROM - based on an official factory (stock) ROM, with all carrier branding removed. Root and 100% Google Android. No Orange stuff.

  • Cyanogenmod 9 (Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich) - a popular custom ROM, available on many Android phones. Cyanogenmod 9 brings Android 4.0.3 to the Orange Monte Carlo / ZTE Skate, however it is still experimental and buggy. We do not recommend it for everyday use (yet).

Click which ROM you wish to install from the options below.
